A StoreFAQ alternative that answers in your FAQ
StoreFAQ gives you a FAQ you write yourself and an AI chatbot that answers shoppers in a chat window. Actually Asked writes your FAQ from your store when you install it, answers each shopper's own question under it, in the page, and adds the questions shoppers keep asking.
Free plan: 50 AI answers a month on one site.
Side by side
StoreFAQ and Actually Asked.
| Topic | StoreFAQ | Actually Asked |
|---|---|---|
| Where AI answers appear | In a chat window that opens from a button on the page. The FAQ itself is a list you write, on a FAQ page and in blocks on your pages. | Under the FAQ, in the page itself, in your theme's fonts and colours. Shoppers can also highlight any sentence and ask about it. |
| Who writes the FAQ | You do, in its FAQ builder, with AI drafting an entry from keywords you give it. | It's written from your store's pages, products and policies when you install the app. You edit whatever you like. |
| Where answers come from | The chatbot answers from your products, pages, store policies, FAQs and blog posts. | Only your own sources. Your store's pages, products and policies, your help center, and the PDF or Word files you upload. |
| Keeping the FAQ current | You add and edit entries yourself. | Questions shoppers keep asking join the FAQ on their own, and anything you edit, pin or remove stays that way. |
| When there's no answer | Live chat with your team, and a feedback form in its Instant Answer widget. | No live chat. The shopper can leave an email and you reply from your own, and every Monday you get an email of what your pages couldn't answer. |
| Product pages | A FAQ group can show on every product, or on the products and pages you choose. | Each product can have its own questions, shown above your store-wide ones. |
| From an AI assistant | Yes, from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor over MCP, and from Shopify Sidekick. | Yes, from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or Codex over MCP. |
| Install | Shopify only, as an app with theme blocks and a FAQ page at an app address. | In Shopify as a theme block, and anywhere else you can paste two lines of HTML. |
| Free plan | Yes. | Yes. It counts only AI answers, never views of your FAQ. |

When StoreFAQ is the better fit.
Choose StoreFAQ if you want a chatbot and live chat with your team in the same app as a FAQ you write yourself, or a FAQ shown in several languages. Most of what shoppers ask is the same few questions, though, and Actually Asked answers those in the page, before anyone thinks to open a chat, then adds the new ones on its own.
What your site gets.
-
Two lines to install
Paste a div and a script, or add the block in your Shopify theme editor.
-
Real HTML
Plain questions and answers in your page's HTML, with FAQ structured data, so search engines read every entry. On Shopify they're in the page before any script runs.
-
Your colours, your radius
Pick a look, then change the colours, corners and spacing in the widget editor. The preview updates as you type.
-
Groups and page rules
Group entries under Shipping, Returns and Sizing. Show different entries on different pages with URL rules.
