Two things set these apps apart. The first is who writes the answers: you, an AI draft you edit, or an AI that answers each shopper's own question. The second is where they show: a FAQ page of the app's own, blocks on your product pages, or a chat window. Several of them serve the FAQ page from an app address such as /apps/help-center or /a/faq, which you then link from your store's menu.

Shopify FAQ apps compared
Most Shopify FAQ apps give you a page of questions you type in: HelpLab, Trusted Help Center and EasySlide do that well, and HelpCenter adds live chat and tickets. StoreFAQ and Actually Asked, ours, also answer shoppers' own questions with AI. Shopify's Knowledge Base app does a different job: its FAQs are for AI shopping agents and never show on your store.

Actually Asked
OursAn AI FAQ that answers shoppers' own questions from your store's pages, products and policies, and adds the questions asked most to the FAQ.
It writes your first FAQ from your store when you install it. A shopper's own question is answered under the FAQ, and a question several shoppers ask joins it on its own; anything you edit, pin or remove stays that way. Emails shoppers leave when your pages can't answer can be downloaded as a customer CSV for Shopify's import. More on the Shopify app page.

When it fits
Choose it if you'd rather not write the FAQ yourself, and want it to answer what shoppers actually ask and keep up as they ask new things. Choose one of the apps below if you want to type every answer, or want live chat and tickets in the same app.
HelpCenter
A helpdesk app with a FAQ page, live chat and a ticket inbox, listed in the App Store as SB: Helpdesk, Live Chat & FAQs.
Its FAQ page has collapsible sections, a search bar and a contact form. Questions the FAQ doesn't answer go to live chat, Messenger, the contact form or a ticket, for your team to answer. Older roundups name its developer as Vertex LV; it's now Shark Byte.

HelpLab
A FAQ page and product FAQ builder by Avocados Lab, called Easy FAQ in older roundups.
It adds FAQ structured data to the FAQ page by default, and can show your FAQs in the Shop app, on the free plan too. The search bar comes on paid plans, and FAQs on product and other pages on its top plan.

Choose HelpLab if you want a plain FAQ page where you write every word, and your FAQs in the Shop app as well.
StoreFAQ
A FAQ builder by Storeware with an AI chatbot and live chat, listed as StoreFAQ: Product FAQ Chatbot.
Of the apps here, it's the nearest to Actually Asked: its chatbot answers a shopper's own question from your store. Those answers come in a chat window, while the FAQ page and blocks show the entries you write or draft. It adds FAQ structured data where its block is placed, and has a live chat inbox.

When it's the better choice
Choose EasySlide if your FAQ and product details already live as headings in your pages, and you only want them folded into tidy tabs.
Shopify Knowledge Base
Shopify's own app for the FAQs that AI shopping agents use to answer questions about your store.
Shopify's help page says its FAQs aren't displayed on your storefront: they're a source for AI platforms answering shoppers' questions about your store. A log shows what agents were asked, and which questions went unanswered. Our Knowledge Base page covers how it and a FAQ on your store work side by side.
- Where answers appear
- Not on your store; AI shopping agents read them elsewhere
- Where answers come from
- Shopify writes them from your store's settings and policies, and you add or override your own
- Install
- Installed from the App Store, with nothing to place in your theme
- Free plan
- Yes, it's free
When it's the better choice
Use it beside a FAQ on your store, not instead of one. It shapes what AI agents say about your store elsewhere, and a question they couldn't answer is worth answering on your store too.
How to choose
- Who writes the answers. With HelpLab, Trusted Help Center and EasySlide you write every word. HelpCenter and StoreFAQ draft with AI, and you edit. Actually Asked writes the first FAQ from your store and adds what shoppers ask from then on.
- Where the answers show. A FAQ page on an app address is easy to set up. Blocks in your theme put the answer on the product page, where the question comes up.
- What happens when the FAQ has no answer. Live chat and tickets (HelpCenter, StoreFAQ), a contact form, or an email the shopper leaves for you to answer (Actually Asked).
- Whether it keeps up. A typed FAQ says what it said on the day you wrote it. Shipping times and return windows change, and so do the questions.
